Our History

2024 marks a landmark milestone for Women’s Aid. We have reached 50 years of listening, believing, supporting, and empowering women subjected to domestic abuse. We have been supporting generations of women and their children. However, until women are safe from abuse, we’ll never be truly equal. After 50 years of campaigning, we have a society where domestic violence is taken more seriously, but we’re not there yet. We proudly continue to be a leading voice in this area and vow to continue to see our vision of an equal Ireland with zero tolerance of domestic abuse become a reality.
