Ally Action List

Women’s Aid and Allianz are calling on men to become allies in ending gender inequality and gender-based violence with the launch of the Ally Action List. Many men want to help, but society hasn’t always made it clear what true allyship looks like. That’s why we’ve created this straightforward, practical guide to show how men can play a key role in this movement and turn good intentions into real, meaningful action.

Listen, learn from and support women

Did you know…

59% of men in Ireland disagree that men should stay out of conversations about feminism and gender equality – it’s a women’s issue.

Action 8

Support women by standing with them

Women don’t need rescuing – they need allies. Show your support by asking how you can help, listening actively, and uplifting their leadership. One of the most powerful things you can do is amplify their voices and follow their lead.

Action 9

You don’t have to fix everything

When a woman shares her experiences, she’s not always looking for you to fix things – she just wants to be heard. Listen and ask her how you can support her. Respect her wishes and let her lead the way.

Action 10

Share care and household responsibilities equally in your relationship

Sharing responsibilities at home, from caregiving to household tasks, helps build understanding and empathy for women. It strengthens relationships and sets a positive example of fairness for those around you.
