1. How does the 2,000 Squats in October Challenge work?

The challenge is to do 2,000 squats during the month of October 2021.

You can do this wherever and whenever suits you. 

This is a personal challenge.  You do this in your own time and link in with the group.  You will find the group at www.facebook.com/groups/2000squatsinoctoberchallenge2021/.

2. How do I track the squats I’ve done?

Use the tracker sheet in your fundraising pack to track your progress.  You can also download it here.  

3. What is a Facebook Fundraiser page?

It’s a page you can create in under a minute within Facebook and raise money for Women’s Aid. Your friends will see that you have created it and will see every time you post a picture or update to the fundraiser.

You set your own target and end date.  The money goes directly to Women’s Aid.  

4. How do I change the target and/or the end date on my Facebook Fundraiser?

Go to your Facebook Fundraiser.  Click on the ‘More’ Option, select ‘edit fundraiser’, change the amount and/or the end date and save the changes.

If you don’t extend the date the default setting by Facebook is 7 days so your fundraiser will end after this time.

You can also set yourself a higher challenge than 2,000 squats depending on your own fitness levels or progress made over the month.

5. How does iDonate Fundraising work?

If you prefer to raise money off Facebook you can set up an individual online fundraising page over at iDonate.ie (www.idonate.ie/womensaid) and share the link with your friends and family.  The funds raised come directly to Women's Aid.

6. Can I get a sponsorship card.

We do not include a sponsorship card in the fundraising pack.  However, you can email us to request one.

Please email challenges@womensaid.ie and include ‘Request a Sponsorship Card’ in your subject line.

7. If I raise money off line (via the sponsorship card) how do I get that money to Women’s Aid?

8. How can I encourage donations on my online fundraiser?

 If you could edit your fundraising pages name to include “2,000 Squats in October” or some variation of this that would be great, just makes it easier for ourselves to identify you’re taking part in this challenge as opposed to fundraising for us separate to this.

  • Download and some of the social media images on your fundraiser page - available to download in the facebook group. 
  • Make sure to extend the end date on your Facebook fundraiser to at least 1st November 2021 as the default end date is 7 days after you created it.
  • From 1st October make sure to post your progress on your fundraising page. This can be as frequently as you like, whatever works for you.
  • Posting your squat total means sponsors can see how you’re progressing with the challenge and it means that at the end of October we can see you have completed.
  • Ask others in the Facebook group how they are raising funds.

9. Do I have to post the number of squats I have done?

Yes. Post them to your personal Facebook Fundraiser page. And then for extra motivation, post it to the 2,000 Squats in October Facebook group so everybody else can be inspired by your progress. In order for ourselves to issue you with your exclusive Challenge Completion Pack we need to be able to see that you’ve completed the challenge.

10. Can I start this in September?

The idea is that we all do this together in October 2021. We recommend getting a few squats done in September to get your fitness up for the October challenge and research how to do squats.

However, if your personal circumstances means that you have started earlier, that is absolutely fine too.

11. How does my fundraising efforts help women and children experiencing domestic abuse?

By taking part in the 2,000 Squats in October Challenge you will raise much needed funds for Women’s Aid. One in four women in Ireland have been subjected to domestic abuse.  The impact of Covid-19 means we need your support now, more than ever.  Since the emergency began calls to our National Freephone Helpline have increased by 43%.  Home is not a safe place for thousands of women and families across Ireland.  Your support means that we will keep our National Helpline running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and support all of the work that Women's Aid does to increase the safety of women across Ireland.  Thank you.

12. When will I get my sponsorship pack?

Sponsorship packs will be sent in four batches:

  • Wednesday 8th September 2021
  • Wednesday 15th September 2021
  • Wednesday 22nd September 2021
  • Wednesday 29th September 2021

Anyone who registers after 12pm on 29th September will receive their packs individually by post.

13. What is in my sponsorship pack?

Your pack will include a Women’s Aid t-shirt, squat tracker sheet, a bookmark and a pen.

14. Can a refund be issued if the wrong amount was donated or a donation was made in error?

Unfortunately, we can’t issue refunds through Facebook but people can request themselves from Facebook by following the below steps:

15. My friend wants to complete the challenge also, how do they do this?

If someone else you know would like to take part in 2,000 Squats in October Challenge they will also need to follow the same registration steps outlined in the 'How Do I Sign Up' section above.  However, if you are fundraising together then they will not need to apply separately.

16. What do I receive upon completion of challenge?

If you’ve posted your progress and we can see that you have completed your 2,000 Squats in October Challenge.  At the end of the month everyone will be asked to register for the exclusive certificate and Women's Aid supporter pin which will be posted to you.
