An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, TD, supports the Women's Aid 16 Days campaign.
"The start of the ‘International 16 Days of Action Opposing Violence against Women’ gives all of us a chance to stand together with the women and girls in our families or who we live with in our community. To protect and support our women and girls, the law is critical, but so equally, are our attitudes. I’m calling on people to make the difference and be the difference for girls and women who have been the victims of violence. We must make it very clear that violence against women, in any form, is always reprehensible. With the recent signing of the Istanbul Convention and the imminent publication of a second national strategy on domestic, sexual and gender-based violence the Government has made clear its commitment to women and girls."
