Resources for Schools and Colleges

In this section please find links to websites and articles, reports and information booklets relating specifically to young people and domestic violence as well as the broader issue of violence against women and girls, which we hope will be of help and interest to you.

Important safety information for teachers:

  • Given the serious safety issues that surround domestic violence and the potential risks involved in exploring the issue with children, we would strongly recommend that such discussions be provided only by someone with considerable experience of working on domestic violence and children.
  • Should a child disclose experiences of domestic violence in the home there would be implications for that child's safety and support, as well as considerations of the impact of that disclosure on the safety of the child's mother and siblings.
  • Should individual teachers wish to avail of training to support their responses to disclosures from students please click here for training opportunities for individual professionals.

Requests for Speakers for Schools

Women's Aid is a registered charity (a non-governmental organisation) and, at our current funding levels, we regret that we do not have the capacity to provide speakers to schools.
