Specialist Support Agency on Violence against Women

We are a Specialist Support Agency, on the issue of violence against women, to Family Resource Centres and the Local and Community Development Programme throughout Ireland. We support community projects and centres to address the issue of violence against women in their communities by providing free training and an information and support service to support projects as they implement the Code of Practice on Domestic Violence.

What is a Specialist Support Agency?

Women's Aid's role as a Specialist Support Agency means to support Family Resource Centres and Community Development Projects to address and respond to the issue of violence against women in their communities.

We do this by:

  1. Providing training to support the implementation of the Code of Practice on Domestic Violence.
  2. Providing an information and support service on violence against women to Family Resource Centres and the Local and Community Development Programme including the provision of leaflets and posters promoting services available to women, and the 2in2u dating violence awareness campaign.
  3. Working with Family Resource Centres and the Local and Community Development Programme during the annual International 16 Days of Action Opposing Violence against Women by hosting a blog and providing resources to groups as needed
  4. Carrying out lobbying and campaigning work on the issue of violence against women including representation on policy fora relevant to violence against women
