Roscommon Women's Network are holding an evening to celebrate the success of their Women into Employment project in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon at 7pm on Thursday 29th November 2012. Campaign Spotlight on Local Action: Roscommon Women’s Network

One of the most inspiring things about the 16 Days Campaign is the highly creative actions taken by many local groups to highlight the issue of violence against women in their local areas. Read below how in 2010 Roscommon Women's Network created a wicker woman as a unique symbol for their 16 Days Campaign. The wicker woman represents women who have been affected by domestic violence and she is a symbol of hope, strength, courage and protection.

Roscommon Women's Network - Commemorative Event

Roscommon Women's Network will be hosting a commemorative event on Monday 6th December at 12 noon in the Old Mill, Castlerea.
The focus of the event will be a life-size wicker sculpture of a woman which has been created by Yvonne Platt. The wicker woman represents women who have been affected by domestic violence and she is a symbol of hope, strength, courage and protection. There will also be guest speakers, light refreshments and a Solidarity Balloon Release. Everybody - male and female - is welcome to come along and support them on Monday 6th at 12 noon in the Old Mill.

Boyle Family Life Centre Balloon Release

As part of the 16 Days Campaign the Family Resource Centre, Boyle, will be taking part in the Women's Aid National Balloon Action Day in solidarity with the one in five women living with domestic violence. The balloons will be released at 11am on 25th November outside the Centre and everybody is invited to attend. There will be refreshments after in the Drop In Room of the Centre.
