Service users invited to Speak Up in the Mid West

Posted on November 20, 2013

speak up cafe logo

Domestic and sexual violence is an alarming problem in our country. Services are there to help but are they good enough?, asks the Mid West Regional Advisory Committee on Violence Against Women.

They are seeking feedback on services through consultations with people whose lives have been affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence. Participant organisations include Gardai, city and county councils; health, social work, refuge, rape crisis, and legal services and many more.

Limerick, Clare and Kerry Women's Networks have come together to form a regional structure within the National Collective of Community Based Women's Networks (NCCWN) to give a stronger voice to women in their region. The theme for the event is 'Recession, where are the women?' "Women have been disproportionately affected by the policies imposed by National Government Departments", stated Elaine D'Alton of the Clare Women's Network, "this is clear in the way the cuts have been implemented".
