West Cork Women Against Violence 16 Days Campaign

The West Cork Women Against Violence Project has organised a number of activities to highlight the 16 Days Campaign. These include running 3 primetime ads per day throughout the 16 Days of Action on C103fm- the Cork county wide radio station addressing financial, emotional and physical abuse.


The Southern Star, West Cork's leading newspaper will also carry a major article highlighting the reasons behind the 16 Days of Action and its importance locally and globally. In addition the WCVAW is running a volunteer recruitment drive during the period with Information Days in Clonakilty, Skibbereen and Macroom. Cork Domestic Violence Network is hosting an awareness raising Open Day on 18th October 2012.

The Network is comprised of the following agencies;

Doves, a symbol of hope and love in West Cork

AS part of the 16 Days of Action 2011, West Cork Women Against Violence Project are holding a rememberance event on the 8th December on Wolfe Tone Square in Bantry at 1.00 pm. The Project will showcase 5 Balloons, 4 black and 1 white to visually represent the 1 in 5 women that experience domestic violence in Ireland. We will also release Doves as symbols of hope for the future during this time and have some background musical accompaniment.

Caha Family Resource Centre Balloon Action Day

On 25th November the Caha Family Resource Centre took part in the Women's Aid National Balloon Action Day. Balloons were released in various locations in the Beara Penninsula in solidarity with the one in five women experiencing domestic violence.

West Cork Women Against Violence Project Radio Campaign

West Cork Women Against Violence Project is running a series of Radio and newspaper advertisements as part of The 16 Days of Action on Violence against Women 2010, in order to highlight our service. The advertisements will focus on physical, and financial violence towards women. They would like to acknowledge and thank COSC for their support in enabling this campaign.

If you are in the West Cork area and are experiencing domestic violence now / have in the past or you are affected in any way by these advertisements, then you can contact us on 1800 203 136 weekdays during the hours below where you can speak with a support worker, or make an appointment to meet face to face at our offices in Harbour View, Bantry, Co.
